Material: Carbon PETG
Our client’s need was to produce a customized case for an electrical component that reproduces petrol engine noise in diesel cars with a flexible production, affordable prices without compromising its mechanical characteristics and the quality, since it is meant to be sold in the after market.
Caracol redesigned the object, optimizing it to additive manufacturing and used Carbon fiber PETG for the production: this polymer with short fibers added guarantees both good thermal and mechanical resistance. Moreover it also improves the production finishes, smoothing the layered texture of 3D printing.
Using additive manufacturing for the production has allowed a final savings in the production process equal to the 47% in comparison to the original supplier’s costs.
