The Robotic Playground is a format ideated by Caracol to bring innovation, design and technology directly to people in order to promote sustainability through 3D printing. The Robotic Playground is a moving lab with the aim of reaching different cities in Italy, to create useful objects for local communities, by an active collaboration of institutions, associations and citizens. The first edition of the Robotic Playground took place in Milan, during Fuorisalone 2018. A robot arm was installed to 3D print a furniture playground for kids, using a recyclable bioplastic.
On the Environment World Day Caracol moved the lab to Sorrento. The live 3D printing session turned plastic waste into public furniture, customly designed for the city. Kids from school were involved in a co-design activity, to create their own version of the furniture for the city.
The Robotic Playground promotes a democratic design, by transforming waste into goods for the community with high identitarian value, and educates citizens on technology innovation, sustainability and post-industrial production systems.
